    Seychelles

     

    Located in the Indian Ocean to the right of Africa is the 115-island archipelago formed

    country, Seychelles. Seychelles lies 1,500 kilometres (932mi) east of mainland Southeast

    Africa.  Countries that are nearyby include Zanzibar, Madagascar and Mauritius.

     

    Seychelles has a natural beauty this is quite breathtaking. It has an enormously relaxing

    ambience that allows you to unwind the moment you arrive.

    A quick history lesson on Seychelles... 

     

    Seychelles saw Independence in 1976 and declared themselves a republic within the Commonwealth. 

    In the 1970's, the Seychelles was considered quite the base and "playground for film stars and international

    jet-setters" (c/- wikipedia).

    Things you can do in Seychelles with the kids includes:

     

     

    Take a boat trip to Moyenne Island

     

    A must-do whilst in Seychelles. Moyenne Island is a small Island just off to coast of Mahe, Seychelles - a small boat

    ride away. Living there is over 100 Tortoises - they say the eldest is over 75 years old. and named Desmond.

    The Island itself was purchased be a British man named Brendon Grimshaw, in 1962 with the plan to make inhabitable. 

    He planted thousands of trees all over the island and cared for Giant Tortoises until he sadly passes away in 2012.  

     

                                        The Island is now part of the Ste Anne Marine National Park and continues to allow visitors on

                                        organised tours.

                                                                                              Visit Vallée de Mai on Praslin Island. 

     

                                                                                                                       A UNESCO World Heritage Site (granted in 1983), Vallée de Mai is                                                                                                                   considered by many to be the original site of the Garden of Eden,

                                                                                                                      this beautiful forest is home to some 6,000 Coco-de-mer trees.
