If you are familiar with Marriott Resorts and Hotels, you will have an idea of what to
expect when you arrive at Goa's Marriott Resort and Spa. The shuttle bus is always
a great welcome to a new city and then the arrival and further hosptitality of the
Marriott was of a very good standard.
Our main requirements of a high standard hotel are clean, spacious (as can be) and well
equipped rooms, a great menu for Room Service and very good facilities. The Goa Marriott
did not disappoint. Because we had checked in with the online check-in process, upon
arrival we were greeted with very happy, well-informed staff welcoming us with utmost
professionalism and eagerness to make our stay a great one.
Our main highlights for Marriott Goa were:
Online Check-in with our Loyalty Awards Program
check-in process
To arrive at the Marriott Goa after a couple
of flights and a decent sized shuttle bus
ride in already having checked in online
was - to say the least -
accommodating and refreshing.
The check-in refrained us from having to sit at reception for the conventional check-in,
which is not a tedious task normally, however, to be escorted to your room moments
after reaching the hotels' front steps is definitely a bonus. This is a great feature for
the Marriott to offer. One, surely Marriott recognises as a service appreciated by members.
The Kids Club Room
The Kids Club is equipped with a wide range of toys for younger children, computers,
computer games, puzzles and activities for slightly older children.
There is a routine with scheduled daily activities. The kids club is very clean, bright and
well-staffed with friendly members of staff.
Ready access to private tour cars with a driver
When we travel, something that is very important is access to a private car in case we
with to sightsee local places. To have access to a driver at short notice is an even bigger
bonus.
Marriott Goa had a local driver and private vehicle available at all times. The hotel at this
time was at peak time and it was bustling so to have a driver available even within the same
day was pretty remarkable.
* We would still advise that you to book a vehicle a day in advance, just in case.
The long beach walk
If you are expecting a white-sandy with turqoise colored water beachfront,
Goa will not meet these standards. Goa is not the Maldives.
It is, however, clean and lovely. Even in monsoon season, our walks along
the beach were pleasant and peaceful. The sand is clean and soft.
The Service!
No matter what you require or how you wish to spend your time, the service received by
staff at the Marriott is great, they are friendly, attentive and so willing to help. Even the
'behind the scenes staff' (painters, maintenance men - who were at the time of our stay
performing some repairs) were friendly and polite.
The restaurant staff particularly, are very keen to provide you with a great experience
when the local food is concerned.
The food, the food, the food !!!!
I am not sure if it was the anticipated 3 Indian meals a day that I was definitely looking forward
to that had me beaming with cheerfulness, or if it was in fact a highly-zealous team of Resort
staff so keen to accommodate our family for a few days combined with a few almost-guaranteed
days of relaxing and sightseeing. The food options are plentiful and the local food is absolutely delicious!
Other Facilities
The hotel is facility-rich with facilities for children, Spa and gym for adults and plenty of dining options to choose from.
There is a small shopping area for souvenirs and luxury items. There are a couple of restaurants available on-site as well as a lovely coffee shop
with delicious cakes, coffees, meals and snacks.
Our hints and recommendations for you....
* Do not be afraid of staying in Goa during the monsoon season. The days will most probably bring many elements:
mid morning sunshine, afternoon showers and some wind throughout the day. But, the sound of rain on the roofs accompanied by the fresh rain showers will have you relaxing immediately.
* Try new and local foods - do not shy away from the local curries and dishes. They are spectacularly amazing.
There are a immensely wide variety of curries and dishes to try if you are not so keen on hot and spicy curries. Express your keenness
* Definitely use a private driver and car to visit the main attractions of Goa. The price is billed back to the hotel. But do not forget to tip the driver. He will for sure appreciate this.
