JetSnug - Aircraft Seat for Children
We spoke with Marie from Jetsnug about her new product, "Jetsnug Snooze" especially for
families traveling on long haul flights with small children in mind. In its early phase still,
the Jetsnug Snooze is sure to interest those families who are looking for a great solution to
help children stay comfortable on a long-haul flight.
Based in South Africa, Jetsnug looked at comfort and safety and came up with a lightweight (500g) backpack solution,
which will work for little people from around 18 months till approximately 7 years.
About Jetsnug, by Marie
As an Airline Pilot and Mother of two small kids I travel often and have over the years searched al over the world
for a product to make the stressful trips more convenient for me and comfortable for my kids with no results.
I’ve designed the Jetsnug Snooze for Parents travelling on long haul flights with small kids in mind. It is simple
– Help your child sleep comfortably on a flight and start your holiday on a high by arriving rested and relaxed.
About the the "Jetsnug Snooze"
Easy to check in as hand luggage and hands free until you board. Once in the air, it simply unclips and unfolds,
fits snuggly into the aircraft seat. With support in various places your little one is sure to fall asleep and stay
asleep as it provides a natural supported fetal sleeping position. The bottom is sloped to lift those little legs and
prevent them from sliding down and has a non slip bottom which can be used for passports and boarding passes
once converted back into the backpack.
Back and side support to keep them upright. Flaps extend on the sides to protect little legs from the sides of the
Aircraft seat and the best part is the hammock, which extends from underneath the seat and clips over the tray
table in front of you. Once connected and folded up creates a comfortable footrest for little feet. Let the seatback
down and you have the perfect snooze bed for your little treasure. Jetsnug will be available worldwide online.
Interview with Marie, Creator (of Jetsnug Snooze) and Owner of Jetsnug.
1) When did you launch Jetsnug?
Jetsnug launched officially in February 2015
2) What do you think is the most unique selling point of Jetsnug?
Jetsnug Snooze is a first in its class, making it more comfortable for Kids to fly on extended flights. The average
economy class aircraft seat is certainly not designed with kids in mind and parents often find themselves very
uncomfortable with either a child on their lap or slouching over them throughout the flight. Travelling with my
own little one’s all over the world I found it frustrated that there is no product on the market to adress this issue.
With an aviation background I took up the challenge to design and manufacture Jetsnug. It is not just a piece of
foam covered with material. Different densities and thickness and shapes has been researched and tested to
support your child where its needed the most. Its colorful but also durable, covered with a easy to clean canvass
outer, and ultra light as parents have their hands full already, they certainly do not need any extra luggage.
At 500g each child can easily take ownership and carry his/her own Jetsnug. It is a patented concept with
worldwide coverage. As parents we want to make sure our kids are comfortable, as it will make our flights
so much more enjoyable.
3) Will Jetsnug be available direct from the US, the UK or Australia at any point? i.e.: Amazons?
or will the item always be shipped from South Africa.
Yes, Jetsnug is in the process of setting up a base in USA and Australia. At this stage it is available on our website and will be shipped from South Africa untill the setup is complete. It will hopefully be available on Amazon within the next year.
4) Will all Airlines typically support Jetsnug?
Absolutely. Jetsnug is however not designed with safety in mind, and rather comfort. However does not infringe on any FAA safety regulations and will be catogorised with other travel gadged such as neck pillows and lumbar support It is designed to allow the actual aircraft seatbelt to fit snuggly (and even better fitting than without) as per normal. We do recommend to not use Jetsnug for take off and landing to comply with Safety regulations and especially stowing away the hammock part in case of an emergency to not be an obstruction in case of evacuation. Apart from that sit back, relax and enjoy your flight!
